The New Zealand fast bowler played seven matches for the county in the Vitality County Championship and Vitality Blast last summer, before returning home early after his wife Sarah was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Now that he is on the road to recovery, Tickner has returned to Derby for the duration of the season, subject to international commitments. He has represented the Black Caps on 34 occasions and made his Test debut against England in 2023.
The 31-year-old Tickner is currently enjoying the home summer in New Zealand and is one of the leading wicket-takers in the country with 13 in the Plunket Shield (first-class), 11 in the Ford Trophy (List A) and nine in the ODIs. Super Smash (T20) so far.
