England all-rounder jacob bethel The dressing room of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has shared valuable information on the personality of Virat Kohli. The pair played a key role in the Bengaluru-based franchise securing consecutive Indian Premier League titles in 2025 and 2026.
Bethel has played only a handful of matches for RCB during his two seasons in India, but whenever he came out to bat he opened the innings with Kohli. The left-handed batsman appreciated how the Indian superstar can move with ease off the field. However, he also praised Kohli's ability to switch to a competitive side instantly.
The England international also commented Kohli's Leadership within the team despite no longer being the captain.
“Away from cricket and off the field, he's actually a very cool person. You know, it's great to talk to, it's great to spend time around. But, it's just the ability to turn into that competitive nature around cricket or training. His lifestyle is very… everything… all arrows are pointed into high performance, kind of into high performance, right? So he gives himself the best chance. But, yes, he is a hyper-competitive person. He was not the captain, you know, when I Was there, but he is a big leader within the team,” Jacob Bethel said on The Super Over Podcast, via Cricket News.
Bethel played seven matches during RCB's title-winning 2026 campaign, coming on as a replacement for the injured Phil Salt. Despite showing promise, the left-handed batsman managed to score only 96 runs at an average of less than 14 at a strike-rate of 124.67 in the entire season.
Kohli, on the other hand, was once again the star of the tournament for RCB with the bat. He scored 675 runs at a strike-rate of 165.84 with many important innings including the final. The right-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 75 against Gujarat Titans in the showpiece match and helped his team retain the title.
