abandoned South Africa versus Pakistan
The third T20 match between South Africa and Pakistan in Johannesburg was abandoned without the toss due to continuous rain. Play was initially delayed due to lightning in the area, then persistent drizzle began. The drainage at Wanderers is exemplary, and the groundstaff remained prepared. When the rain subsided for a while, an official inspection was announced and the groundstaff sprang into action. But before this could happen the rain returned once again.
Two hours after the game officially started, it was finally called off, with Heinrich Klaasen and Mohammad Rizwan shaking hands in the dugout. This meant that South Africa won the three-match T20I series 2–0, winning the first game by 11 runs and the second by seven wickets.
The series has now moved to Paarl, where the first of three ODI matches between the two teams will take place. After this, a match in Cape Town and a Pink ODI in Johannesburg before two Test matches in Centurion and Cape Town.
