Ravichandran Ashwin A possible trade deal between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that could see Ashutosh Sharma move to the Men in Yellow in exchange for Rahul Chahar has been ruled out.
This possible trade is being speculated by fans after the departure of Delhi Capitals wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav to Lucknow Supergiants, allowing Rishabh Pant to return to his first IPL franchise.
Ashwin said DC would not be so foolish as to trade away Rahul Chahar for Ashutosh Sharma, one of the best finishers in the league, who got just one game to play for the Super Kings this season.
“There should be some logic and fairness in the trade proposal. I understand CSK wants Ashutosh Sharma. And of course, DC didn't utilize him properly. Who are you giving back in the trade for Ashutosh Sharma? There's someone in Rahul Chahar who you haven't played in the 11 yourself,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“A finisher is a prized asset, and it is very hard to get a good finisher, especially an Indian finisher. Would DC be so foolish as to accept trading him for Rahul Chahar? Yes, DC need a spinner because they have traded Kuldeep. But they still have Vipraj Nigam and Axar Patel. How to trade Rahul Chahar to sit on the bench, and give you Ashutosh as the first 11 player?” he asked.

The former India off-spinner said that giving Chahar in exchange for Ashutosh was almost like signing the explosive batsman for free.
“If this trade happens, it will be one of the biggest robberies in the history of mankind and the IPL. Even if DC looks for a wrist spinner to replace Kuldeep, why would they try to get a spinner who almost entirely warmed the bench last season? Even if they want Chahar, they will still try to get him in the auction,” Ashwin said (via the above source).
“Here, CSK's offer will definitely demand the best finisher in the league, who is also an Indian player, and not give anyone in return. CSK may ask for Ashutosh Sharma for free instead of giving Rahul Chahar. It is the same thing.”
