The Indian Premier League (IPL) transfer market is starting to create a stir ahead of the 2027 season, with two leading Indian stars reportedly on the move. According to the Times of India report, the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant There is a possibility of a return to Delhi Capitals (DC), while left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav is expected to join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Pant is looking at a possible homecoming to Delhi after a tough two-year stint with Lucknow. The explosive batsman became the most expensive player in IPL history when LSG acquired his services for Rs 27 crore ahead of the 2025 auction. However, things did not go as planned for Pant or the franchise.
The left-handed batsman endured disappointing campaigns with the bat and scored 269 runs in IPL 2025 before scoring 312 runs in the 2026 edition. Lucknow also struggled collectively, finishing seventh in 2025 and bottom of the table in the recently concluded season. After a disappointing campaign, Pant resigned from the captaincy role.
Reports suggest that Pant himself had initiated the discussions regarding his exit and the franchise had agreed to his request. Although the chances of a return to Delhi Capitals look increasing, it is unclear whether the 29-year-old will immediately take up the captaincy role. The franchise is reportedly evaluating its leadership options, with KL Rahul emerging as a strong contender for the position.
There is a possibility that Kuldeep Yadav may take Lucknow instead of Delhi.
Meanwhile, another important development can be seen -Kuldeep Yadav Leave Delhi Capitals after five years of successful collaboration. The spinner was retained by DC for Rs 13.25 crore ahead of IPL 2025 and has been one of the most reliable performers of the franchise since joining in 2022.
During his time with Delhi, Kuldeep played a key role in reviving his white-ball career and consistently delivered impressive performances. His exceptional season came in 2022, when he took 21 wickets in just 14 matches. He established himself as one of the league's premier spin bowlers, taking 10, 16, 15 and 10 wickets in the subsequent editions of that campaign.
Lucknow Super Giants are now reportedly keen to bring in the experienced spinner into their setup as part of a major team overhaul ahead of IPL 2027. With Pant expected to move in opposite directions, both franchises could be set for one of the biggest transfer stories in IPL history.
