But, the sadness is growing, as revealed in a latest development on the morning of Monday, June 8, when fans could not find a single Mumbai Indians-related picture on Suryakumar's Instagram profile. The only picture on the batsman's Instagram account in relation to MI was with Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni, two of the biggest legends of IPL and Indian cricket.
It was also seen that the player had unfollowed the team on Instagram. It was later clarified that the team was following the player, but the nature of the incident sparked widespread discussion over whether an exit was a possibility.

He has made vital contributions for the team in their last two title wins in 2019 and 2020 and has been their batting talisman since then.
In 2025, he broke Sachin Tendulkar's record for most runs in a season by an MI batsman by scoring 717 runs at a strike rate of 167.91. However, 2026 did not go well for the batsman, as he scored just 270 runs at a strike rate of 147.54.
