East Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi has once again gone viral, but this time for a heart-touching reason. He helps turn a young boy's heartbreak into a happy ending. A few weeks ago, a video was circulated on social media in which a young Virat Kohli fan was desperately trying to get the cricketer's autograph. The boy tried repeatedly to reach Kohli, but every time he came closer, the security personnel stopped him.
After being rejected once again, the disappointed young player left crying and threw his bat down in despair. The clip quickly went viral and thousands of people expressed sympathy for him. Recently, during a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Modi revealed that this video stayed with him for a long time after watching it for the first time.
Instead of simply moving on, they decided to do something about it. Modi asked his team to locate the boy so that he could give him a special gift, a bat from the inaugural season of the IPL signed by all the players, including Kohli. Interestingly, Modi admitted that he does not even have a bat personally signed by Kohli, making the gesture even more remarkable.
“I will send him the bat of Season 1. The bat is signed by every player, which was also signed by Virat Kohli,” Modi was quoted as saying by Times of India.
This seemed like a promise that might be difficult to keep. After all, finding a fan from a viral video is not an easy task. But the Internet had other plans. The young boy later shared an update that delighted cricket fans across the country. He revealed that he personally received a video call from Modi, who told him that a special gift was on the way.
Yugveer Budhiraja said, “Thank you Mr. Lalit Modi sir for reaching out to me. You made my morning truly special. Waking up to your video call was an unforgettable moment and means a lot to me. I am so glad you found me and I am so excited to get the bat from you.”
Modi also left a comment on the post and assured the young player that the prized bat is already on its way. While social media can often seem exhausting, with people rapidly moving from one story to the next, moments like these remind everyone of its positive side.
Modi wrote, “I am so glad I could find you. The bat I am sending will be personally delivered to your home in Delhi.”
