Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore has decided to invite Vaibhav Suryavanshi at its research center for Rajasthan Royals to conduct a study on him following his exploits in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
The study will revolve around Suryavanshi's meteoric rise in the world of cricket at the age of 15. Its purpose would be to explore how early success and fame can affect a young player in the long run, and how to deal with such obstacles to remain successful. According to Mr Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore, the case study will go beyond the cricketing achievements of the left-handed batsman.
“We want to understand what factors motivate the exceptional performance of gifted children. Personality, behavior and practice patterns along with support from parents, teachers, coaches and superiors are important for such performance. In our study, we also want to look at how to deal with such expectations or barriers,” Himanshu Rai told the press, via Indian Express.
The 2026 IPL season will always be remembered for Suryavanshi's breakout campaign. The opening batsman took the tournament by storm, scoring 776 runs at a whopping strike rate of 237.30 to win the Orange Cap, along with other awards including Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Emerging Player of the Season.
Suryavanshi has produced some excellent individual performances in the IPL this season, including a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur and three scores in the 90s in his last four matches. He scored 97 against the same opponents in the Eliminator before scoring 96 against Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2, but they ended up losing the game.
Despite Suryavanshi's excellent efforts with the bat, the Royals once again failed to reach the final of the recently concluded IPL season. To date, the Jaipur-based franchise has only one title to its name, which came in the inaugural season in 2008. However, with the 15-year-old starlet, they definitely have a chance to rewrite history in the years to come.
