Kolkata Knight Riders Defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets in match 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the iconic Eden Gardens on Wednesday, May 20.
Mumbai Indians, who came to bat first, had a bad start and Ryan Rickelton was out cheaply in the second over. Rohit Sharma showed intent with some sky-scraping sixes but Saurabh Dubey struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Rohit and the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav to put Mumbai in trouble early in the powerplay. After this, Cameron Green increased the problems for MI by dismissing Naman Dheer, due to which the visiting team's score became 38/4 within six overs.
Tilak Verma and captain Hardik Pandya carefully attempted to rebuild the innings, building a steady partnership as the Knight Riders' spinners tightened the noose in the middle overs. Cameron Green failed to make an impact with the bat, but Rovman Powell shifted the momentum decisively in Kolkata's favor with a powerful counterattacking innings. Powell faced Mumbai's spinners and fast bowlers in equal measure and scored 40 runs in 30 balls, while Pandey held one end firmly. The pair stitched a vital partnership that put the hosts firmly in control of the equation.
Mumbai bounced back through Bosch, who finished with impressive figures of 3/30, which included the wickets of Rahane, Green and Tejaswi Dahiya. Jasprit Bumrah also bowled with discipline and dismissed Pandey for 45 off 33 balls, raising expectations for the visitors for some time.
However, Rinku Singh Remained calm under pressure and hit important fours at the end of the innings. Along with Anukul Roy, they helped the three-time champions win by taking four wickets in 18.5 overs.
