Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday, May 18.
Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to bat first citing dry pitch. Sanju Samson made a stormy start by scoring 27 runs in 13 balls. Urvil Patel hit a few sixes but once again failed to convert his starts into big scores.
Gaikwad struggled to time the ball and his disappointing innings of 15 runs in 21 balls ended in the 12th over. This happened when Karthik Sharma played a quick inning of 32 runs in 19 balls. However, the best batsman of the night for the five-time champions was Dewald Brewis. The youngster scored 44 runs in 27 balls to help CSK reach 180/7.
In reply, Travis Head was out cheaply, but Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan Made a partnership of 38 runs to steady the ship. However, after Abhishek's dismissal, SRH needed to step up, and it came from Heinrich Klaasen and Kishan's match-winning partnership of 75 runs off 41 balls.
After Klaasen's dismissal in the 15th over, Nitish Kumar Reddy could not contribute much, although Kishan took over the innings. The wicketkeeper-batsman was eventually dismissed in the final over, but at that point SRH needed only six runs to win.
Smaran Ravichandran hit Anshul Kamboj for a four on the last ball of the 19th over and helped SRH and Gujarat Titans make it to the playoffs.

SRH captain Pat Cummins bowled brilliantly in a high-pressure game on Monday. He dismissed the opening pair of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad and also sent back in-form Karthik Sharma. In the end, the Australian legend finished with figures of 3/28 in four overs.
Heinrich Klaasen presented a show in Chepauk
When Heinrich Klaasen came to bat, SRH needed 125 runs from 74 balls on a sloppy surface. Spinners Akil Hosein and Noor Ahmed were looking to create pressure in the middle overs. However, Klaasen's counter-attacking performance forced Gaikwad to rethink his strategy. When Noor dismissed the South African batsman, he had already scored 47 runs off 26 balls and taken his team to a strong position. He was dismissed by Spencer Johnson on 18 runs. That was an important moment of the match.
Ishan Kishan mixed aggression with caution while batting brilliantly.
Ishan Kishan played another match-winning innings this season, and it was not one of those flamboyant innings he is known for. Rather, it was a brilliant display of grit and determination from the young player. He picked his bowlers and targeted the loose balls to score runs. In his innings of 70 runs off 47 balls, the southpaw hit seven fours and three sixes.
