Districts like Barabanki, Bahraich, Kanpur Dehat, Basti, Sambhal, Hardoi and Unnao were among the worst-affected areas. Before the start of the game, a minute's silence was observed in the stadium in honor of those who lost their lives in the tragedy. Match officials as well as players from both teams also wore black armbands to show respect and solidarity with the affected families.
Talking about the match, LSG captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and decided to bowl first. Pant said the wicket looked a bit difficult and said the team believes in faith, supporting each other and staying positive despite a tough campaign.
Meanwhile, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said there was a little moisture on the surface initially but expressed confidence in his team's ability to adjust to the conditions and give 200% in the crucial encounter.
Lucknow Super Giants made a few changes to their playing eleven with the inclusion of Akash Singh while shifting a few players to the impact player list. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, suffered a blow as reliable fast bowler Jamie Overton was ruled out with a right thigh injury. Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson has replaced him and is set to make his debut for the franchise.
LSG is already out of the tournament after securing only three wins from 11 matches and is currently at the bottom of the points table. Meanwhile, CSK are fifth with six wins from 11 matches and remain firmly in the race for a playoff spot.
