Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend ms dhoni He is expected to travel to Lucknow with the rest of the squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Stadium on Friday, May 15. This match is extremely important for CSK as they are still in the race for a place in the playoffs, while LSG is already out of the tournament.
Dhoni has not played a single match in the current IPL season due to a persistent calf injury. The experienced wicketkeeper-batsman missed the entire initial phase of the campaign and only started featuring with the team during selected fixtures later in the season. He traveled with the team for the matches against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, sparking speculation about a possible comeback.
However, several reports later claimed that the injury had worsened as Dhoni attempted to regain match fitness. It was also suggested that the former India captain did not want to upset the current team combination, especially after CSK had started producing positive results with the current setup. As a result, Dhoni did not join the team for the recent encounter against Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where Chennai registered an emphatic eight-wicket win.
According to a report in RevSportz, Dhoni is now expected to be a part of the traveling party to Lucknow. CSK still have an outside chance of breaking into the top four if they manage to pull off a crucial win over LSG and carry the momentum into the final stages of the league campaign.
Despite being unavailable for selection, Dhoni remained associated with the team during practice sessions and preparations. Ahead of CSK's previous home encounter against LSG, the 43-year-old was seen interacting closely with the players and members of the coaching staff. He also spent time signing autographs for fans and bowled a few balls during the net session.
CSK have one more home match this season against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 18 and fans will be hoping that Dhoni can make a comeback before the campaign ends.
