Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu praised Bhuvneshwar KumarThe veteran player is being called a performer of sorts after his match-winning performances in the Indian Premier League. The 36-year-old performed brilliantly to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory over Mumbai Indians in Raipur.
Bhuvneshwar was brilliant with the ball first and restricted MI by taking an impressive four wickets. Later, during a tense chase, RCB needed nine runs off the last three balls. Bhuvneshwar maintained his composure and hit a sensational six with a yorker on the off-side field, bringing his team closer to victory and sealing the victory on the last ball.
“I think it's just his ability and especially on a pitch where most of the balls will hit the stumps [that] He is even more deadly. Usually when a batsman gets beaten on a bouncy pitch. [the ball misses the stumps]But on pitches like this, he will more or less get you out LBW or caught behind the wicket,” Rayudu said as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“Today, we saw a beautiful slow ball against Rohit [Sharma] Also his lucky ball, which always swings. He has a lot of control over it. In a way, he is becoming an artist now. He's getting very good at what he does,'' he added.
Bhuvneshwar returned with impressive figures of 4/23, taking his wicket tally to 21 and taking him to the top of the Purple Cap in the IPL. The experienced fast bowler dismissed Ryan Rickelton, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma during his brilliant spell. Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta said that Bhuvneshwar's success came from the way he left the ball, comparing it to the rhythm and control he displayed during his peak years playing regularly for India.
“The skill set was always there. It's just that sometimes, because he's never been the fastest, sometimes it's just a release [that’s made him] Take some speed off the pitch. i think he is [got it] back again. [Against MI] He was really good with his release. That backspin on the ball – I think he has got that back,” Dasgupta said.
“And that's something I've really tried to look at: how we might look at the release. But it's hard to look at [on TV]But you can feel it by watching the batsmen play and hurry up [into their shots] Even at 133-134kph. He is hurrying the batsmen. The batsmen are delaying playing him a bit. So that tells you he's got that release back,'' he said.
