Krunal Pandya shows off his fight scars after match-winning innings in RCB vs MI


Krunal Pandya Ghayal emerged as a warrior, standing firm in the face of adversity to help Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secure a crucial win against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, May 10. At the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, Krunal played a brilliant innings under pressure and helped his team chase down the target of 167 runs on a difficult surface.

The Baroda all-rounder was sent to bat at number 5 after RCB lost three wickets inside the power play. Krunal sent the third ball for a six and never looked back. He mixed caution with aggression and brought up his first half-century of the season in 32 balls. RCB kept losing wickets from the other end, but Krunal held the fort.

Apart from losing his partner from the other end, Krunal also had to battle cramps. At one point he was seen lying on the floor before Ryan Rickelton arrived to help. After the physio took care of him, Krunal decided to continue his quest to help RCB get two crucial points.

Although his struggle with cramps was obvious to all, that wasn't the only thing troubling him. After the match, Krunal shared an Instagram story which showed a large wound.

When Krunal was eventually dismissed for 73 off 46 balls, RCB needed 18 more runs to win from 12 balls with three wickets remaining. With the equation reduced to 15 runs on the last six balls, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a brilliant last over.

Raj Bawa bowled four extra balls in the last over but took the big wicket of Romario Shepherd. Just when it seemed that the match was slipping away from the hands of the home team, Bhuvneshwar Kumar brought them back into the game by hitting a six. Bava misfielded on the last ball of the match, while Bhuvneshwar and Rasikh Salam Dar completed the two runs required for victory.
