Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach andy flowers He has been fined 15% of the match fee for breaching Level 1 of the IPL 2026 Code of Conduct during RCB's clash against Mumbai Indians in Raipur on Sunday, May 10.
The IPL said Flower violated Article 2.3 of the code of conduct, which deals with the use of audible obscenities during a match. The incident occurred 17.2 overs into RCB's run chase when Flower was involved in a heated exchange with the fourth umpire.
The controversy started after a controversial boundary decision involving Krunal Pandya. Facing AM Ghazanfar, Krunal lofted the ball towards wide long-on, where Naman Dheer took the catch near the ropes and edged it across the boundary to Tilak Verma.
Tilak failed to complete the catch and was seen pointing for a six, with Dheer appearing to touch the boundary cushion during the attempt. However, replays confirmed that Dheer had made no contact with Cushan. Krunal, who was suffering from cramps, did not attempt to take a run and the ball was eventually declared a dot ball.
Flower later admitted to speaking aggressively to the fourth umpire and accepted the penalty imposed by match referee Amit Sharma. Under IPL rules, sanctions for Level 1 offenses are final and binding.
Meanwhile, RCB emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter, defeating MI by two wickets in Match 54 of the 2026 IPL to knock them out of the tournament. After being invited to bat by Rajat Patidar, MI scored 166/6 in their 20 overs thanks to valuable innings from Naman Dheer (47) and Tilak Verma (57). For the defending champions, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was brilliant with the ball, taking four wickets for just 23 runs.
In reply, RCB chased down the target in dramatic fashion and sealed victory on the last ball after Rasikh Salam Dar scored two runs. Krunal Pandya once again demonstrated his match winning ability and proved to be the architect of victory by playing a brilliant inning of 73 runs in 46 balls.
