Hardik missed MI's previous match against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium due to a back problem during the previous clash with Chennai Super Kings. Vice-captain in his absence Suryakumar Yadav Stepped up to lead the team against LSG as MI secured a comfortable win to keep themselves alive in the playoff race.
Hardik was not seen at the departure terminal of Mumbai airport ahead of the team's planned trip to Raipur for the upcoming clash, indicating that he may be out of action. However, Times of India has reported that Hardik along with some other members of the team will reach the host city on Thursday, May 07.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar, who filled in for Hardik in the last match, will not be available for the Raipur clash. The Indian cricketer is expecting the birth of his first child with wife Devisha Shetty and may be with the family on the special occasion. As a result, fans can expect at least a few changes in MI's playing XI for Sunday's encounter.
Hardik's injury is one of the many that the Mumbai-based franchise has suffered throughout the season so far. Apart from a few cases of players being ruled out of IPL 2026, MI also missed the services of Rohit Sharma After the RCB clash at Wankhede. He returned to action against LSG and entertained the crowd with a brilliant innings at the top and helped MI chase down the challenging score with seven balls to spare.
