Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their run of form in the Indian Premier League 2026 with a four-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 3. The result gave GT a significant boost in the points table, while PBKS missed a chance to consolidate their position at the top.
PBKS, who came to bat first, had a poor start and lost early wickets in the powerplay. Priyansh Arya And Cooper Connolly was out cheaply, increasing the pressure on the middle order. Prabhsimran Singh got a brief start but could not convert it into a big score.
Captain Shreyas Iyer tried to steady the innings, but it was Suryansh Shedge who provided the much-needed momentum with a blistering 57 off 29 balls. Marcus Stoinis scored a valuable 40, while Marco Jensen added a quickfire 20 at the end to take PBKS to 163/9 in 20 overs.
For GT, Jason Holder performed brilliantly, taking four wickets and breaking the backbone of the PBKS middle order. Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each, keeping the scoring under control.
Chasing 164, GT got off to a bad start with captain Shubman Gill out early. However, Sai Sudarshan took the innings forward by scoring 57 runs in 41 balls and chased down the target in the middle overs.
Jos Buttler scored 26 runs, while Nishant Sindhu made useful contributions to keep GT on track. The chase was ultimately capped by an unbeaten 40-run innings from Washington Sundar, who played with intent under pressure.
GT remained patient as Arshad Khan provided the finishing touches, helping the hosts reach 167/6 in 19.5 overs and seal a comfortable four-wicket win.
