Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 43rd match of the 2026 Indian Premier League at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Friday, May 1. The hosts had won over table-toppers Punjab Kings in their previous encounter, while DC have lost three consecutive games, having been comprehensively beaten by defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore last time out.
RR vs DC: Toss Update
RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and decided to bat first, going against the norm. The right-handed batsman suggested that the pitch is not a normal Jaipur pitch, suggesting that it is on the dry side, and thus he is looking to set a target against his opponent. However, DC captain Axar Patel claimed that he wanted to bowl first anyway and his aim was to restrict the 2008 champions to a chaseable score in the second innings.
DC vs PBKS: Mitchell Starc returns to the playing eleven
australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc He came on to play his first game of the 2026 IPL season as he found himself back in the playing eleven in place of Sri Lankan seamer Dushmantha Chameera. The left-arm fast bowler is playing his first professional game after representing the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League in January. The 36-year-old took 14 wickets for DC last time out and for the first time, will lead his team's bowling unit along with New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson.
RR vs DC: What did the captains say?
Riyan Parag, RR captain,
“We are going to bat first. I think it is not a normal Jaipur wicket. It is a bit dry; we saw yesterday and the pitch was a bit fast the other day. So hopefully it will slow down a bit in the back end, so we are batting first. (On the win against Punjab Kings) I think the middle order and the lower order finished it the way they did and the openers got off to a great start as usual. But as a collective team effort, 220 Chasing always helps. That's the motto, as I was saying, we haven't been able to play proper and complete cricket because the tournament is another show and we can rest for a few days.”
Akshar Patel, DC Captain,
“Starc is playing, Chameera is not playing. Pathum is playing, which means David Miller is sitting out. Ashok Sharma is there, so there are three changes. We have three changes, the wicket looks good and we are happy chasing the target. It is important to get back to the basics. To turn things around you need to be in the present, focus on positivity. Approach and body language is very important.”
