Prasidh said, “Yes, he had back spasms. He went for a scan.” When asked whether Bumrah would bowl in the final innings of the series, he said, “The medical team is monitoring him. So we will know whenever the medical team comes back to us.”
Bumrah spent three of the last five overs of the morning session off the field. He came back for the final two overs and resumed bowling for India after lunch. He started beating Alex Carey’s bat with his very first ball, but his pace dropped, from the early 120s to the early 130s (kph). Bumrah walked off the field immediately after bowling that over and was not seen until scenes of him leaving the SCG in his car were broadcast. He returned to the field a few hours later, at around 4.40 pm local time.
Rohit had said, “If someone is in such good form, you want to try to maximize that form as much as possible.” “And that’s what we are trying to do with Bumrah.
“But there comes a time when you need to step back a little bit and give him a little extra relief. So, we have been very careful.
“I’ve been very careful. I talk to him about how he feels and things like that. So, yes. Those things have to be managed carefully. And I’m trying to do that on the field. Am.”
Earlier, Bumrah had spent a year out of the game in 2022 to recover from a stress fracture of his back.
