Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) New Delhi established their dominance with an emphatic win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 39 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday, April 27.
In one of the most one-sided affairs in this season's IPL, RCB won by nine wickets after restricting the hosts to just 75 runs in the first innings. This was mainly due to the damage done by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood, who took a combined seven wickets in the game. The pair hit the first six and reduced the host team's score to 8 runs for 6 wickets even before the first four overs were completed. Bhuvneshwar took 3 wickets for 5 runs, while Hazlewood took four wickets for just 12 runs and won the Player of the Match award.
2. RCB restricted DC to just 75
The Capitals never really recovered from the loss of their early wickets. David Miller, Abhishek Porel and Kyle Jamieson tried to play positively but could not take advantage of their starts. RCB's spinners ensured that the hard work of their fast bowlers did not go in vain and bowled out the 2020 finalists for just 75 runs. Virat Kohli is arguably the best batsman to ever play in the IPL, and he showed why when he became the first player to reach 9,000 runs in the history of the tournament. He currently averages 40.05 while competing in 19 seasons, while he has an average of 133.80 with eight centuries to his name.
