Delhi Capitals (DC) India got off to their worst start in their home game against defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Match 39 of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
Akshar Patel's team was scoring 46 runs at the loss of seven wickets at the end of 10 overs in the first innings. The hosts lost badly in the early stages of the game and lost six wickets for just eight runs in the fourth over.
The collapse started with the new ball by the pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood. The Indian seamer got the wicket of Sahil Parakh on the very second ball of the first over. Later Hazlewood caused this damage in the next over.
The Australian dismissed KL Rahul and Sameer Rizvi with the first two balls he bowled in the game and was on a hat-trick. After this, it was Bhuvneshwar's turn to take two wickets in one over.
The 36-year-old bowled his second over, sending both Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel back to the pavilion. Hazlewood returned to bowl the next over and got the wicket of Nitish Rana. When the left-handed batsman was sent packing, DC were playing at 6 off 8.
David Miller tried to steady the innings by scoring 19 runs from 18 balls, but when Rasikh Salam Dar dismissed him, the score read 43 for seven.
