Despite losing after a dramatic Super Over finish, Mohsin performed brilliantly and returned with figures of 4-1-23-5, his first five-wicket haul of the ongoing IPL season. His flamboyant spell kept LSG in control for most of the contest, before KKR staged a late comeback to force a tie and eventually win.
“It's been a long time and it's just a matter of getting that key fitness. Because he's a player with that particular skill set, we don't really have that much in terms of Indian talent. We've got a lot of batsmen, but the one thing that's missing is left-handed variety,” Sanjay Bangar told ESPNcricinfo.
The left-arm pacer picked up his maiden wicket early on and was again brilliant during the powerplay, constantly troubling the KKR batsmen with his discipline and aggression. He continued to score important successes, including the dismissal of Cameron Green, who scored a quickfire 34 off 21 balls. At one point KKR's score was 73/6 when Mohsin completed his spell.
“I believe if you look at the pack we have in terms of left-arm seamers, he impresses the most because of the extra bounce he gets, the ability to hit that length, and he has a heavy ball, that's what they always say. So he has all the makings of an amazing left-arm seamer, and the selectors should keep a keen eye on him,” he concluded.
Mohsin's impact also extended to the middle overs, where he bounced back to break any rebuilding attempts from KKR, taking two more wickets at the crucial stage and keeping the opposition under constant pressure.
