Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target of 229 runs with five wickets and nine balls to spare against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday, April 25.
After winning the toss, Sunrisers came to bowl first and got the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal early. However, Dhruv Jurel joined Vaibhav Suryavanshi and the talented pair stitched a 112-run partnership off 62 balls. The latter was the key destroyer in the astonishing partnership.
Riyan Parag once again failed to do wonders with the bat. Shimron Hetmyer also got out cheaply. However, Donovan Ferreira showed glimpses of his brilliant ball-striking talent during his innings of 33 runs off 16 balls.
However, it was Suryavanshi who made the fans and experts at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium stand up to applaud his talent by scoring a century in 35 balls. Ultimately, Shakib Hussain dismissed him for 103 runs in 37 balls. His brilliant innings played a big role in helping Rajasthan post a challenging score of 228/6.
In the second innings, Sunrisers would have expected a fast start from the opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. However, Joffra Archer dismissed Archer on the fifth ball. He was unfortunate not to be dismissed on the very first ball as Jurel failed to take a regulation catch.
After the inclusion of Abhishek and Ishan Kishan, Rajasthan bowlers were hitting all areas of the park. The home team was poor on the field, with Shimron Hetmyer and Ravindra Jadeja wasting direct chances. The partnership between Abhishek and Ishan scored 132 runs in just 55 balls.
Heinrich Klaasen came to the crease after Abhishek was out in the 10th over after scoring 57 runs in 29 balls. Kishan scored 74 runs from 31 balls and hit some powerful blows before being dismissed by Archer. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Klaasen continued the attack and took their team closer to the target.
Brijesh Sharma dismissed two right-handed batsmen in the 18th over, but it was too late for the Royals. Salil Arora and Aniket Verma gave the Orange Army victory in 18.3 overs with five wickets remaining.

1. 'Wonderkid' Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again surprised the cricket world.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi had a field day out in between. He batted with great composure and displayed ferocious power-hitting. It seemed as if he was treating the SRH bowling attack as a bunch of net bowlers. What was excellent to watch was his method of conveying the madness. There was very little slogging during his innings of 103 runs off 37 balls. He hit five fours and 12 sixes with a strike rate of 278.38.
2. Ishan Kishan-Abhishek Sharma troubled RR bowlers
Ishan Kishan And Abhishek Sharma's explosive partnership was not free from flaws. However, as the saying goes, 'fortune favors the brave.' Both left-handed batsmen made Rajasthan suffer the brunt of fielding flaws. Abhishek hit 11 fours and one six during his innings of 57 runs in 29 balls. Meanwhile, Kishan scored 74 runs in 31 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes.
3. Fielding mistakes cost Rajasthan Royals dearly
Delhi Capitals lost the afternoon match against Punjab Kings due to errors on the field. A similar story unfolded in the second game on Saturday. The likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer missing easy chances meant that Rajasthan would never be able to put the opposition under pressure. They need to go back to the drawing board and come back stronger in their next game.

I think skill-wise, we did pretty well, but I think we dropped a few too many catches. And quality players like Abhishek and all the guys who bat, I think you can't really give up their catches and you can't really give them a second chance. And they took them, so credit goes to them. But we could have been better on the field. (What would Trevor Penny tell him to do next with his fielding today?) I mean, it will be worth watching, hopefully not too harsh, but I think it's a part of the game, yes, but as I'm saying, we have to be clinical and fielding plays a major part in that. So I think we will try to increase it in the next game. I think we have got a day's break, we will be mentally refreshed and then come back in the next game. (Satisfied with 228?) I think we're left with like 10-15 on the table. To be honest, he bowled very well in the 18th and 19th overs. He bowled like that, bowled really good yorkers. I felt there wasn't much we could do. Also unfortunate, lots of top-edge between the keeper and fielders. So yes, some unfortunate opportunities, some opportunities that we missed. Hopefully, we won't repeat it next time. (Next on PK) I think every day, different positions, different games, different ways to look at it. I think right now we don't know what Chandigarh will be like. I mean, they chased a big score, yes, in Delhi, but Chandigarh is a new ground and a new wicket, a new soil. So hopefully it won't go to that extent. We would like to keep them limited to a lower level, but then that's a thought for another day and I've got some time to regroup, think about it and then move on.

(Returning to cricket after a long break) I am really happy. You're never sure how the first game will go. But the preparation was good. And I think I've played so much that I probably have it down a little better than when I first started, 10 years ago. I don't know. (Record number of runs scored in both matches today. Where will the bowlers go?) I don't know! Start working on your batting (laughs). This is incredible cricket. I mean, the good thing is that it is so high scoring that you feel like even if you have some bad overs or some big overs, someone like Prafulla (Hinge), you can come back and have a real impact on the game. So T20 cricket is going on like this, it is good fun. (On the good performance of the young bowlers in his absence) Yes, amazing. Ishaan (Kishan) led brilliantly. Obviously we have Harshal (Patel) and Jaydev (Unadkat) who have started the season as well. So I think we have a good dugout, you know, full of ballplayers for the young guys. They also have clear plans about the next child. (feeling halfway) (we were) absolutely calm. I think if it had gone to 250 it could have gone away from us. (Relieving captaincy duties, what does that mean to you?) No, I think as a wicketkeeper you have to do the same thing. So I was keeping it simple because I thought it was a very good wicket to bat on and we tried to restrict them under 230 and we were able to do that. so. (What was it like handing the reins back to Pat Cummins?) Leading the team for seven matches and having Pat come in and giving us the extra bowling power, it was a lot of fun. So when he was coming into the team I was really happy because he is a tremendous captain anyway. So I was thinking more about my batting and wicketkeeping than leadership. (What's it like playing against these boys, boys in pink?) You just have to keep watching the ball and play your shots. When you are doubting yourself or something you cannot go into an area where you fear failure. All you have to do is keep it simple and play your game. (The first ball was absolutely terrible) I think I do too [was] Quite fast and got more extra bounce than I expected, but yes, I'm happy to get six runs out of it. Sometimes, I think fortune favors the brave. So you just have to look at the ball and move forward. I think that was a good learning session for me. (Chasing such a big score) I think we were quite calm and the most important thing is that when you are chasing a total like 228, first of all you need a good powerplay. And having Head and Abhishek as openers makes the job a lot easier for the rest of the batsmen, even if they bat for four overs. So I was just batting with him, communicating with Abhishek. He knew the game very well, what was happening, what was the run rate. So I was just playing my shots and we made a great partnership in the middle, which helped our team. (But where does that peace come from?) Yes, I think peace is about the skill of always being present. You just have to be in a good mind about seeing the ball and not be preconceived as to what shots we have to play. So I was just thinking let's watch the ball. This is a big field. I'll get some more intervals, bigger intervals. I believe a bigger field means you will always get bigger gaps. So, you know, when the ball is not there, maybe you can push it into the gap and keep the run-rate going. So that was the job and I think it was a pretty good wicket. There is no need to think much about what to do, just bat, just bat and enjoy it. (Are you batting at your best at the moment?) No, I think my best is yet to come.
