Chennai Super Kings (CSK) During the game against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, April 23, players were seen wearing black armbands as a mark of respect to Mukesh Chaudhary's late mother.
The fast bowler's mother sadly passed away on Tuesday after a year-long battle with the disease.
“The CSK family is mourning the passing of Mukesh Chaudhary's mother. We stand with Mukesh and his family, keeping them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the franchise posted on its social media account.

Despite the sad news, Chaudhary is part of the CSK playing eleven that took the field against MI at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The left-arm fast bowler last played his first match of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad and took two wickets.
Chaudhary will also have increased responsibilities with the ball alongside Anshul Kamboj, following Khaleel Ahmed's hamstring injury that has ruled him out of this season's IPL.
It is worth noting that Chaudhary is not a regular member of CSK's lineup after the 2022 season of IPL. After playing 13 times in 2022, the 29-year-old has played only five times in the last three seasons. However, he took 16 wickets at an economy rate of 9.31 in his debut IPL campaign four years ago.
CSK desperately need a win to start their 2026 campaign
Before their game against MI, CSK had played six times in this year's IPL and had won only twice. They are currently placed eighth in the points table with only four points.
The five-time champions need a win as soon as possible to get their campaign going, should they make a late bid for a top-four finish in the second half of the season.
