Mumbai Indians returned to winning ways and produced a brilliant all-round performance to register a stunning 99-run win over Gujarat Titans in Match No. 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in front of a packed crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, April 20.
Batting first, MI scored a mammoth 199/5 in their 20 overs, which mainly included a sensational century. Tilak Verma. The left-handed batsman played a breathtaking innings and remained unbeaten on 101 off just 45 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 224.44.
After early setbacks, Naman Dheer made a vital contribution of 45 runs from 32 balls to stabilize the innings, before Tilak took complete control in the latter stages. Captain Hardik Pandya added 15 runs as MI finished strongly. For GT, Kagiso Rabada took three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took one wicket each.
In reply, the host team had a very poor start and were eventually bundled out for just 100 runs in 15.5 overs. Sai Sudarshan was out for zero on the very first ball, which laid the foundation for the downfall of the team. Captain Shubman Gill managed to score 14 runs, while Washington Sundar scored 26 runs in 17 balls. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals, preventing any meaningful improvement.
Mumbai's bowlers were brilliant throughout, with Ashwini Kumar emerging as the standout performer by taking four important wickets. Mitchell Santner provided excellent support by taking two wickets, while AM Ghazanfar also took two wickets, including the tenth wicket which ended the proceedings. Jasprit Bumrah Achieved early success to break into GT pursuit.
