IPL 2026: PBKS vs LSG, Match 29 Highlights

Punjab Kings (PBKS) continued their unbeaten run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 54 runs in Mullanpur on Sunday, April 19.

Rishabh Pant won the toss on a belter of a pitch and decided to bowl first. However, Mohammed Shami dismissed the dangerous Prabhsimran Singh in the very first over. Priyansh Arya And Cooper Connolly combined and rode his luck to take LSG out of the match.

Both the batsmen destroyed the bowlers during the partnership of 182 runs in just 80 balls. Arya scored 93 runs in just 37 balls, while Connolly contributed 87 runs in 46 balls. Marcus Stoinis and Shashank Singh made useful contributions lower down the order and Punjab finished on 254/7.

In reply, the new opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni added 61 runs in the power play. However, the required run rate continued to be out of reach. Marsh and Badoni could not take advantage of their starts. Pant and Aiden Markram looked good during their quickfire cameos. However, they had to climb a mountain that was too steep for them.

In the end, Lucknow was restricted to 200/5 in its 20 overs. Marco Johnson was the best bowler for Punjab, who took 2 wickets for 37 runs. Vijaykumar Vaishya was also economical in his spell.

Key moments of Match 29 of IPL 2026:

Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly make LSG pay for fielding mistakes

Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly were given a lease of life on the field by Lucknow Supergiants and they made good use of it. Rishabh Pant did not take DRS after Mohsin Khan trapped Connolly on the pads in the second over. There was no on-field call out, but if Pant had taken DRS the decision would have been overturned. The Australian batsman was dropped by the bowler after two balls. On the other hand, Arya was removed when he was on 63 runs. He scored 30 more runs after that relief, and that too in quick time.

Aiden Markram gave 32 runs, which is the most expensive over of an LSG bowler.

Aiden Markram was brought in to bowl the 13th over. Pant wanted to use an off-spinner against the two left-handed batsmen Arya and Connolly. However, the plan failed as both sets of batsmen went crazy. Connolly hit three sixes while Arya hit two sixes in the action-packed over. Markram gave away 32 runs in the over, which is the most by an LSG bowler in the IPL.

Rishabh Pant has shown signs of returning to form

Rishabh Pant once again batted at number 3. However, the wicketkeeper-batsman looked in good touch during his innings, perhaps for the first time in IPL 2026. The LSG captain scored 43 runs in 23 balls, hitting one four and four sixes. Although the loss will be sad, Pant's innings will be one of the rare hopes in this game for LSG.
