IPL 2026: SRH vs CSK, Match 27 Highlights


Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their fourth defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Saturday, April 18. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated them by 10 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

On Saturday, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first. Abhishek Sharma got his team off to a great start, while Travis Head struggled to stay at the crease. Mukesh Chaudhary hit four fours twice in the last over of the power play by dismissing Travis Head and Ishan Kishan on consecutive balls.

Abhishek scored 59 runs in 22 balls before being dismissed in the eighth over. Aniket Verma and Nitish Kumar Reddy were out cheaply and Heinrich Klaasen came in as the troublemaker for Sunrisers. The wicketkeeper-batsman held the innings until Anshul Kamboj dismissed him for 59 runs in 39 balls in the 18th over.

Shivang Kumar and Salil Arora tried hard but CSK's death bowling, led by Kamboj, performed well and conceded only 17 runs in the last three overs. The hosts finished on 194/9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Sanju Samson was out in the second over. Ayush Mhatre and Ruturaj Gaikwad made a brilliant partnership, in which Ayush Mhatre and Ruturaj Gaikwad did the most damage. This partnership scored 51 runs in just 21 balls. However, both of them were out in quick succession.

Matthew Short and Sarfaraz Khan scored 46 runs off 33 balls to keep CSK afloat. However, they once again lost two wickets in quick succession. Matthew Short and Shivam Dubey tried to keep CSK in the contest, but once they were out in the 16th and 17th overs respectively, Jamie Overton and Anshul Kamboj faced a big challenge. CSK needed 41 more runs in 19 balls. Overton and Kamboj added 28 runs from 17 balls but it was not enough to give the five-time champions victory. In the end the visiting team's score ended at 184/8.

Ishan Malinga casts the match winning spell, Ruturaj Gaikwad's bad form continues

Ishaan Malinga Had a great outing on Saturday. He conceded a lot of runs in the last few matches but against Super Kings he brought his A-game. The Sri Lankan seamer took the wicket of Ruturaj on his very first ball. Matthew Short and Sarfaraz Khan looked well set, but Malinga dismissed them both. In the end, the 25-year-old finished with figures of 3/29 from four overs and won the Player of the Match award.
