Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) registered another important win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 10 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
On Saturday, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and invited the host team to bat first. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head stitched a 75-run partnership inside the power play, with the former doing most of the damage.
Mukesh Chaudhary took two wickets in two balls by dismissing Head and Ishan Kishan in the sixth over. However, Abhishek continued his havoc until he was out in the eighth over after scoring 59 runs off 22 balls.
Heinrich Klaasen took matters into his own hands even as SRH's young lower-middle order tried to cheat. The wicketkeeper-batsman handled the innings but did not allow the scoring rate to drop much. Ultimately he was out after scoring 59 runs in 39 balls.
Anshul Kamboj and company performed brilliantly in the death overs, giving only 17 runs in the last three overs. CSK restricted SRH to exactly 200, a total below 194/9.
In reply, Sanju Samson was out early, but Ruturaj Gaikwad showed good intent during his innings of 19 runs in 13 balls. However, Ayush Mhatre lit up the stadium by scoring 30 runs in 13 balls and hitting a flurry of boundaries. After his dismissal, Sarfaraz Khan and Matthew Short batted with restraint.
However, Ishan Malinga dismissed both of them in the 11th and 16th overs respectively. The wicket of Dewald Brevis was caught between them as the South African wonderkid was out for a duck in four balls.
Shivam Dubey settled at the crease, but in the 17th over, Saqib Hussain gave his team a big success by dismissing him. In the end, Jamie Overton and Kamboj swung their bats but it was not enough to take their team home. Chennai finished at 184/8 in their 20 overs.
