Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered their fourth win of the season when they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets at the M Chinnasamy Stadium on 15 April.
Speaking after his win in the dressing room, Virat Kohli He praised his team's approach to counter-attacking after the initial shock of Salt's dismissal. Royal Challengers scored 60 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the powerplay, giving them control of the target of 147 runs on a slightly sticky wicket. Kohli scored 49 runs in 32 balls and 40 of those runs came in just 20 balls in the powerplay.
“Guys, another good win for us, I won't dwell on it for too long. I thought we were quite professional at the back, made a conscious effort to take the game away from the opposition from the start. Kohli lauded the efforts of captain Rajat Patidar for helping him keep the momentum going while chasing the target. Patidar has batted in sixth gear this season, playing as an enforcer who scores big in the middle overs. He scored more than 200 runs in 13 balls with 27 runs.
“Again, passing the pace from one player to another is something that is working really well for us. When Silver came on, of course, he recovered again and played some amazing shots. In small moments of pressure, we picked the right shots, put pressure on the opposition, and we were ahead of the game all the time,” he said.
'Don't like to see collapse' – Kohli at the end of the innings
Despite their dominant position, RCB lost five wickets while chasing the target, but they managed to complete the chase with 29 balls remaining. The win took the defending champions to the top of the table in 2026. Delhi Capitals will look to continue this momentum when they visit the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18.
