Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has not started like the five-time champions Mumbai Indians Would have hoped. After breaking their long-standing opening game streak with an impressive win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium, the five-time champions have faltered, suffering consecutive defeats in their next two matches against Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals.
While their batting has shown glimpses of promise, the bowling unit has come under severe scrutiny, especially after the heavy defeat in the rain-interrupted clash. With the pace slow at the start of the tournament, the Hardik Pandya-led side will need to resolve key issues quickly to avoid missing out in the playoff race.
Mumbai Indians must do these three things to get back to winning ways in IPL 2026:
3. Senior professionals should take more responsibility

After a historic 148-run partnership against Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening match, things have turned sour for MI's opening pair. Rohit Sharma And Ryan Rickelton. The pair failed to provide a solid start in the next two matches, which was a major reason for their defeat. Suryakumar Yadav has also not been able to make any significant contribution yet.
The five-time champions would also like their senior players to take more responsibility and play as per the situation. Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are among the best batsmen in IPL history, and if MI is to make a comeback, these players will have to step up.
