Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will host Lucknow Super Giants for the 15th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, April 9. The game will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens.
The Knights did not get the start they had imagined. After losing to Mumbai Indians by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side returned to Eden Gardens and lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 65 runs. On Monday, they faced Punjab Kings, but the match was canceled without any result.
Many fans and experts believe that KKR dodged a bullet because of rain as their decision to bat first in overcast conditions was shocking and they lost the wickets of Finn Allen and Cameron Green inside the first four overs before play was stopped due to rain. Varun Chakravarthy got injured before the last game, while Narine fell ill. Both the mystery spinners could not play in the last game. KKR fans will be hoping that the talismanic duo recovers in time for Thursday's clash.
Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, have played only two games so far. He started with the match against Delhi Capitals on home ground. On a sluggish track, Rishabh Pant's bowlers defended the target of 142 runs and restricted Delhi to 26/4 on the mat. However, the brilliance of Sameer Rizvi took the visitors home in 17.1 overs.
Last week, Lucknow registered their first win of the season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets on the back of a brilliant bowling performance. The two biggest positives to emerge from the match were the form shown by experienced campaigner Rishabh Pant Mohammed Shami.
