Aakash Chopra mentioned KL Rahul's Good figures while batting against Mumbai Indians ahead of the five-time champions' clash against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 4. The wicketkeeper-batsman has scored 976 runs at an average of 69.71 and scored three centuries against Mumbai Indians.
Rahul opened the batting with Pathum Nissanka in Delhi Capitals' opening game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants. However, they could only score 0 and 1 respectively. Chopra said the Capitals will need their opening pair well against the five-time champions on Saturday.
He said in a video on his YouTube channel, “KL Rahul has scored the most runs against Mumbai Indians. Who has scored the most runs against Mumbai Indians? KL Rahul is number 1 in that too. That's why he likes this team. In the last match, he was out on zero on the first ball and can score runs in this match because he and Pathum Nissanka will need runs.”
Chopra said that he feels that Dushmantha Chameera and Lungi Ngidi will not be able to play together for the Capitals for some time as Lungi Ngidi had bowled well with Indian fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar and T Natarajan against the Super Giants.
He said, “They have incredible depth in their bowling. I am not expecting changes now. I was thinking of playing Chameera and Ngidi first. Now they will not play with them because the last match went very well. So they will continue in the same style. They do not need much change.”
Jasprit Bumrah's figures in Delhi are not good: Chopra
While Chopra said that Jasprit Bumrah has got many wickets against the Capitals, he mentioned that the ace pacer has not had a lot of chances at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
“Jasprit Bumrah has taken a lot of wickets against this team, probably the most wickets against this team, but his numbers in Delhi are not good – strange. However, Hardik Pandya plays very well in Delhi. Tilak Verma plays very well against this team,” he said in the same video.
Chopra advised Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya to use experienced New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult more with the new ball.
Chopra said, “The only thing I expect from Mumbai is to get two overs from Trent Boult in the first six overs. I don't think you are doing your job properly by making Trent Boult bowl four one-over spells. Hardik can bowl with the new ball. Shardul Thakur can come in the middle. You will definitely give another chance to Allah Ghazanfar.”
According to the cricketer-turned-specialist, the Capitals have better spinners in their arsenal, and they can thrive in the afternoon game. However, he described the MI batting lineup as more dangerous.
