Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have issued a clarification regarding the on-field conversation between owner Sanjiv Goenka and the captain. Rishabh Pant After their defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League 2026.
After the defeat, Goenka was seen engaged in an animated discussion with Pant, with head coach Justin Langer also part of the conversation. Although there was no audio, the visuals revealed a serious conversation, which quickly went viral on social media and sparked widespread speculation among fans and experts.
In response, LSG released a video on their official social media handles to address the situation, stating, “Not everything you see is the true story, here are the unfiltered vibes from the post-match, when the cameras don't cut,” in an effort to clear up the situation surrounding the incident.
The moment also brought back memories of a similar episode during the IPL 2024 season, when Goenka was involved in a public argument with then captain KL Rahul after a defeat, which was widely criticized at the time.
On the field, DC registered a comfortable six-wicket win over LSG at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Batting first, LSG were all out for 141, struggling to build momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. Mitchell Marsh scored 35 runs, while Abdul Samad provided some resistance by adding 36 runs.
Starting the innings, Pant could score only seven runs before being run out. DC's bowlers put in a disciplined performance, with T Natarajan and Lungi Ngidi taking three wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel also contributed important breakthroughs in the middle overs.
In reply, LSG made an early impact with the ball and reduced DC to 33/4 in the powerplay. Mohammed Shami dismissed Rahul on the very first ball, while Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav took important wickets. However, Samir Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs turned the game around by making an unbeaten 119-run partnership. Rizvi played a match-winning innings of 70 runs in 47 balls, while Stubbs supported him with 39* as DC won with 17 balls to spare.
