IPL 2026: 'Bowlers won't know what to do with him'

Wonderkid of India, Vaibhav Suryavanshihas earned praise from former Pakistani cricketers Basit Ali and Kamran Akmal after his heroics in the IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.

Rajasthan started their campaign with a comprehensive eight-wicket win against Chennai at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Monday, March 30. Chasing a modest target of 128, Suryavanshi put the Chennai bowlers in trouble with a brilliant display of his brute power and brutal aggression.

The 15-year-old completed his half-century in just 15 balls, giving Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance to play the second innings.

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal said that Suryavanshi will soon make his debut in international cricket.

“In just 8 IPL games, he is stacking records – he already has a century. I think in the upcoming international matches for India, he will get a chance after the IPL. He will become a young player in the T20 international team. He has proven himself everywhere. If he continues to perform, he will definitely get a chance,” Akmal said on 'The Game Plan' YouTube channel.

Akmal also mentioned that Suryavanshi's game awareness impressed him, adding that he could leave bowlers confused in a decade, wondering how to stop him from scoring if he continued like this.

“His presence of mind, awareness of the game, the way he plays – he has an answer for everything at such a young age. It's remarkable… We are discussing his performance more because it was a match of 128. But his performance is visible because he scored 50 off 15 balls. His family and his father should be proud – the way he has worked with him, the way other people have also, like the coaches who have helped him in school cricket, in club cricket. Have taught… I'm afraid – when he turns 25, on the bowlers I don't know what to do with him,'' he said.

One Bablu outweighed everyone: Basit Ali

Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali took a lighter note on the talented batsman's skills, saying that he felt like “ek bachcha sabpe bhari” (one child dominating all) during the Royals vs Super Kings match.

Basit said, “They (Rajasthan Royals) chased down 128 easily. Suryavanshi scored 50 off just 15 balls – what an innings, he clearly showed his form. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 37 as Bablu (Suryavanshi) was doing all the damage at the other end. One Bablu dominated all – exactly the same feeling in yesterday's (RR vs CSK) match.” It happened.”
