Delhi Capitals registered an easy win by six wickets Lucknow Super Giants In Match 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 1.
After being invited to bat, Rishabh Pant-led LSG had a disappointing performance and were bowled out for just 141 runs in 18.4 overs. In reply, DC chased the target in 17.1 overs thanks to a match-winning partnership between Samir Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs.
It was a brilliant bowling performance from the Delhi-based franchise that sealed the win. Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan shook up the LSG lineup by taking three wickets each. Surprising everyone, Rishabh Pant opened the batting for his team along with Mitchell Marsh. But this experiment was not successful and Pant was run out after scoring just seven runs.
After initial failures the LSG never gained momentum. Michelle Marsh Scored 35 off 28, while Abdul Samad scored 36 off 25. However, the rest of the batting unit failed to get going. Nicholas Pooran could only manage eight runs before being bowled by a clever slower ball from Lungi Ngidi, leaving LSG struggling throughout the innings.
Chasing 142, Delhi Capitals had a poor start as their top order slipped to 26/4. However, Rizvi and Stubbs turned the game around with a sensational partnership. Rizvi played a match-winning innings of 70 runs in 47 balls and chased the target with composure, while Stubbs provided excellent support with 39 runs in 32 balls. The duo stitched a vital 119-run partnership, taking DC to 145/4 in 17.1 overs and comfortably sealing the game despite early successes as LSG failed to capitalize.
It was a complete performance from Delhi Capitals, with the bowlers sealing the win and the middle order completing the job calmly. It was a forgettable performance for Lucknow Super Giants as they suffered a disappointing defeat at home.
